Intelligent Flotation Reagent Dosing System for Copper Mine

Mar-01-2026

Project Name: Intelligent Flotation Reagent Dosing Upgrade Project

Location: Yunnan Province, China

Installation Time: August 2022

Products Applied:

Servo Diaphragm Metering Pumps

Servo Actuated Control Valves

Project Background:

This large copper mining operation processes more than 12,000 tons of ore per day. The flotation circuit requires continuous dosing of collectors, frothers, and depressants. The original mechanical diaphragm pumps relied heavily on manual adjustment, resulting in unstable reagent dosing, high chemical consumption, and fluctuating recovery rates.

VOSS Solution:

VOSS supplied a servo-driven diaphragm metering pump system with closed-loop control. Each dosing point was integrated with the plant’s DCS system via 4–20 mA signals. Servo actuated control valves were installed at key pipelines to fine-tune flow rates in real time based on ore grade and slurry density.

Results:

After commissioning, reagent dosing accuracy was maintained within ±1%. Flotation recovery increased by approximately 8%, while reagent consumption dropped by 15%. The system now operates with minimal manual intervention, significantly improving operational stability and process consistency.
