Project Background:

The iron ore mine required continuous transport of high-density tailings slurry to a thickener system. Traditional centrifugal pumps suffered from severe wear, frequent blockages, and high maintenance costs due to the abrasive and viscous nature of the slurry.

VOSS Solution:

VOSS provided high-torque servo progressive cavity pumps specifically designed for high-viscosity and high-solids applications. The servo drive allowed automatic speed adjustment based on slurry concentration, ensuring stable flow without pulsation.

Results:

The system has operated continuously for over 12 months with no major failures. Wear on critical components was significantly reduced, energy consumption dropped by 18%, and unplanned downtime was virtually eliminated.
